Position Summary
Minot State University (MiSU) Department of Biology invites applications for an animal biologist at the rank of Assistant Professor. The applicant will be expected to contribute to teaching introductory-level biology courses as well as teach upper-level courses in their area of expertise. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in wildlife biology, mammalogy, ornithology, herpetology or entomology. Biologists who can provide field experiences are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants are also expected to develop a research program appropriate for an undergraduate institution, and to involve undergraduate students in directed research. The department is well-equipped for both teaching and research. Resources available include field equipment (e.g., trail cameras, radiotelemetry, small mammal traps) and a respectable museum collection. The position has a start date of August 15th, 2024.
Responsibilities
Tenure-track positions at MiSU have core responsibilities of teaching, scholarship, and service. MiSU is a teaching-focused institution. The applicant is expected to develop and teach biology course lectures and associated labs. The applicant is also expected to advise students, provide service to the department and university, and maintain a research program involving undergraduate students.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must have earned a Ph.D. or be ABD with expected successful doctoral dissertation defense within 6 months of position start date.
Preference Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and an established record of research.
