Description & Details:

Camp Cook- 2024 Camp Season

Job summary: Responsible for providing healthy, homemade meals for campers and staff during summer camp program, preparing meals for special diets, ordering food and cleaning/ organizing kitchen and appliances. In addition, cooks are responsible for general cleaning and maintaining meal records. 

How You'll Contribute:

• Manage all aspects of food service for residential camp
• Prepare meals for up to 100 people per meal
• Be willing and prepared to meet special food requirements for both campers and staff; e.g., gluten free and vegetarian diets
• Supervise and guide other food service employees
• Order food in accordance with budget
• Perform opening and/or closing duties
• Keep kitchen and dining areas clean
• Follow guidelines set by the North Dakota Department of Health for safe food practice
• Maintain kitchen inventory
• Communicate food service updates and needs to supervisor

What You'll Bring to the Table:

• Previous food service experience preferred
• Knowledge of proper food handling procedures required
• High school diploma preferred
• Ability managing kitchen staff
• Ability to modify meals for special dietary needs
• Knowledge of generally accepted well balanced nutrition guidelines
• Experience with ordering and meal planning
• Excellent working skills including: communication skills, organizational skills and attention to details

Advertised Pay:

$600.00 per week plus free room and board

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Minimum two years of successful experience as head cook
  2. Ability managing kitchen staff
  3. Ability to modify meals for special dietary needs
  4. Knowledge of generally accepted well balanced nutrition guidelines
  5. Experience with ordering and meal planning
  6. Current First Aid/CPR certifications
  7. Excellent working skills including: communication skills, organizational skills and attention to details
