Description & Details:

The Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department at North Dakota State University has a postdoctoral research associate position available. The individual will 1) conduct research primarily related to irrigation feasibility studies in semi-arid regions; 2) collect/retrieve, process, and analyze data in GIS platforms; 3) present and publish research results at scientific and stakeholder meetings and in refereed journals; and 4) assist the PI in writing project reports. The position is offered for calendar year 2024 with the potential for continuation dependent upon the individual's performance and funding. 

Work Schedule:

Monday- Friday 8:00 A.M.- 5:00 P.M.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. (ABD considered with completion date prior to start date of position) in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering or closely related field;
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data in GIS platforms;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Having a valid driving license;
  • Eligibility to work in the US.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated research experience and track record of publication; 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), R Studio, and Microsoft Office; 
  • Familiarity with Northern Great Plains climate and agriculture.
